Summer XC Update Week 4(2026)

Dear Runners and Parents,
It's going to be hot this week! Please make sure you're hydrating all day, every day, so you are ready for your runs. Please bring lots of water to practice. Runs should be modified when necessary based on the heat. Be Smart, but consistent!
Wednesday, July 1st = Run, Eat, Swim: The Desilets Family has invited runners over to their house after the morning run for breakfast and swimming! 10348 Spring Grv. Brighton, MI 48114. The runners can go straight from practice to the house for breakfast.
Practice Opportunities
Running
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with parent Jordan Desilets = Epley 8 am
Tuesday, Thursday = Boys/Girls Captains practice: Epley 8 am
Tuesday, Thursday = Settlers Park 6 pm (All ages)
Weight Room
No Weight Room this week
Dead Period = The dead period is for all Hartland High School Sports. No sport can hold organized practices with coaches over this period. This year's Dead Period is from June 30th to July 6th. I will not be attending any runs during this time period. Some kids may still want to run and there with be a parent at practice(Jordan Desilets), but no official coach will be at Practice June 30th - July 6th
Cross Country Camp
The cost of camp with the bus is $330. You may pay via check to "Hartland Schools," or I can ask the athletic office to add it to "Parent Portal" for an additional fee. I need this to be paid before leaving for camp, but I will accept payment at your convenience.
Where: YMCA Camp Nissokone 6836 F41, Oscoda Twp, MI 48750
When: August 9th-14th(The week before school, students will have to do picture retakes.)
Cost = $330(Bus included)

Qualifying for Camp
Camp is a privilege, and camp is totally optional. An athlete may end their camp stay at any time(No Refunds). All athletes will have the same opportunities during the season, whether they attend camp or not.
You must be eligible per MHSAA and Hartland High School Academic Standards
You must run 4 miles in under 40 minutes.
You must run 5 miles without walking.
If you are new to the program, you must meet the first 3 requirements ONLY
If you are a returning runner, you must log 100 miles between 6/1/26 and 8/7/26.
Logging miles can help keep you healthy and is an integral part of our program.
Join Strava, and I will log your miles! Make sure to sync your watch. Mileage is from Monday to Sunday each week.
Final Forms
To attend camp, you must have all the paperwork in Final Forms complete, along with an uploaded physical. Final Forms is open for the 2026-2027 school year. Please start working on your forms. I will update the season checklist with who has filled out Final Forms and the camp survey. Remember, both parents and athletes need an account. PARENT DIRECTIONS FOR FINAL FORMS
Communication
I will be sending emails most weeks, updating the mileage log, and sending text messages throughout the summer. Please make sure you are receiving both text messages and emails. Social Media
I have been using Instagram and X(Twitter) to celebrate the team's accomplishments for many years. I am not the best, but I try. Some kids have expressed interest in Vlogging(Video Logging) on TikTok. I have created a Harland XC/TF TikTok and we have posted some videos. Please let me know if you would rather your child not be in these posts. Please take a look at what we have done and let me know if you would like to opt your child out.
